To meet our goals for Year 2020, JAINA's Long Range Planning team has identified key strategic projects which need to be undertaken to meet our goals.

This Wiki site documents, tracks, updates information about the projects as well as identifies the leaders who are implementing these.  To find out more about the project, just click on it.   If the project is new - then just create a project page and just cut and paste the template below:

Vision2020 Background:

This write up and presentation gives an overview and rationale for the vision that was developed by 100's of Jain leaders (JAINA, Jain Centers, Jains) in North America over a three year period(2003-2006). It has been strongly endorsed by all.

 A. OngoingProject (Initiated in 2004):

Sammed Shikar Hospital Project--Our center has raised over $20K

for this project. The original write up (dated 2004) is attached. I have

an updated version (please let me know if you want it).

Current status: There is an existing hospital building with a nurse

helper and a Physican (Dr. Singh). However, they lack a mobile

van/ambulance/hospital on wheel  to serve the community aroound

Parasnath Hills.

Sudhirbhai Shah and Jyotsanaben, representing JCGH, during their

yatra to Sikharji visited the Hospital. They donated a large amount of

medicine purchased in Mumbai (per suggestions from Dr. Vijendra

Goel. MD and Dr. Adish Jain).

Sudhirbhai mentioned that the hospital personnel requested for a

van. Since this was our original idea (per file attached), we are

working to procure a multipurpose van  that can serve the

community. We are planning that Dr. Adish Jain will facilitate delivery

of the van during his forthcoming trip to India.

Jain Center of Greater Hartford is currently working with Jain Center

of Connecticut to gather support for this.

B. Ongoing project: Mahavir Ahinsa and Peaceful Living Experience

(MAPLE) is an annual seminar which was started at the University of

Connecticut to commomerate the 2600th birth anniversary of

Bhagwan Mahavir. The proceed of the endowment (~$40K) and

donations for an operational fund support the Seminar.

This year (October 7th) we are hoping that Mahatma Gandhi's grand

daughter (South Africa) will be the keynote speaker. Previous

speakers include: Dr. Padamnabh Jaini, Michael Tobias, Samaniji,

Gurudev Chitrabhanuji, Human right Dr. Shiva (Sri Lanka).

C. Integration Project: Practice of Anekantwada

We are planning to raise funds to support Temples/Centers here

and in India to promote  integrated Poojas/Aarti/Mangal Divo (e.g.

Aarti from various traditions, installing Pratimas from at least two

traditions).

In this regards, we would like to bring to your attention close

cooperation bewteen two centers in CT (JCGH and JCC) and

Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. We do Bhavana together during

Paryushan and Daslakshan Parv. We cosponsor visiting scholar

(e.g. Samanji, Tarlaben Doshi).

Best Regards,

Faquir
